Early Stages

I've chosen a 30"x 20" Daler Board as my canvas and its bigger than I've been using, but I want to create drama in this piece. I first sketched out the basic layout and it took a while as Positano is a very unique setting. I used a 4b pencil and had a new putty rubber to hand but didn't need it too often. This morning I've done some colour blocking with very light glazes. I need to leave it now and contemplate from a distance. The complexity of the hillside and houses will only be hinted at, and I want to think about my use of colour and how much detail is needed to achieve the effect I'm after.
