Family affair

I started my life in North Wales, the daughter of a very talented artist and teacher, J Vernon Hughes, who ran his own art department in a secondary school and frequently exhibited in countrywide exhibitions including The Mall Galleries, London.

passions

I started painting at seventeen, completed an A level in art and followed an art foundation course but at that time decided to follow my creative talents in the theatre and trained  at the New College of Speech and Drama, Golders Green, London. I then completed my training with a postgrad course in education with London University. At this time I was also involved in choreography, one musical being shown at the Edinburgh Fringe and also The Roundhouse, London.
As a newly qualified teacher, I moved back to North Wales and taught Drama, English and Art in various secondary schools in Flintshire. At this time , my art was mainly a stress busting hobby, and a chance to create and experiment in different media. Destiny was to change all that.

Art & love

I met my future husband, Luigi, from Southern Italy.
He came on holiday to Wales!! We married and moved to live  near Sorrento.
With a growing family I decided to create a career from my art allowing me to stay home with the children and I began selling my work and exhibiting around the area.

I specialise in watercolour but also love to diversify and try new media. I also enjoy sketching and painting acrylics, more recently I have become a self taught quilter for fun!
I have sold many artworks internationally to clients in Canada, America, the UK and Italy, some as commissions, and also my limited edition prints have proved popular with tourists.
